Story
I'm raising money for Duncan House at Blackpool hospital. Duncan House is a place for families to stay whilst their loved ones are going through chemo on the heamotology ward. I stopped there for 2 solid weeks. Whilst Louise started her first round of chemo after the baby was born. Louises family and I used it as a base on and off for 6 months so we could be close to her and have a bit of precious family time in a homely environment with our 2 sons.
Im doing the walk as close as possible to the date Lou got the phone call to head up to the Heamotology ward. It was on Saturday the 17th of April 2021. Lou found out she had Acute Myeloid Leukemia at about 11pm and they told us they would deliver the baby on the Monday and Lou would start her induction to chemo soon after.
Louise battled through 3 rounds of chemo at Blackpool Hospital , then her treatment was moved to Manchester where she had to endure another round of chemo followed by a gruelling stem cell transplant. Spending 8 solid weeks in an isolated ward from the 30th November to mid January . To our dismay, sadly it didn't work and even though in March 2022 Lou got told she was in remission, by mid April the AML had returned.
So this walk is to raise money for Duncan House in memory of my beautiful fiancee Louise.
Blue skies said they will do me off some sponsor sheets if any one wants to join. It's only 25miles . Should take 8-9hours
