Story

Hi,

Myself and 5 other foolhardy men of a certain 50's and 60's age, not in Lycra but comfortable fitting clothes, have decided it would be a good idea to walk around the Isle of Wight in 24 hours.

A reasonable challenge as the route is 66 miles or 106 kilometres long with 2,080 metres of elevation to add to the fun.

The event is run by Action Challenge as part of the Ultra Marathon series. There are approximately 800 competitors.

Our team will start at 8am on Saturday 10th July and we aim to finish before breakfast on Sunday.

The general consensus is that we are mad. I have some sympathy with this theory. The furthest we have walked so far in training is 51 miles. We all survived the experience and belief the 66 miles is achievable.

One of the team's wives works at a local Hospice so I have chosen to support this charity in combination with other team members. Anything you decided to give will be greatly appreciated.
