Duncan's 200 mile walk for Sussex Hospices · 21 February 2017

Help raise funds for one or all the 12 hospice care providers in Sussex by walking or supporting events on the Trail

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm doing this now because 2017 is the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the modern hospice movement in the U.K.

I was lucky enough to have met Dame Cicely Saunders, whose work in London in the 1960's laid the foundations of the outstanding hospice care network that we have today. From my work as a G.P. and more recently from being involved at The Martlets, I've seen first hand just how much vital support and comfort hospices provide. Their work touches all our lives; it is freely open to all and yet is only partly funded by the government.

I have just completed Walk 6 from Brighton to Southease. Despite being somewhat sore of foot, I'm keen to take on Walk 7, a lovely route which follows The South Downs Way from Southease to Alfriston.
