Story
It's been a long year! So, what better way to break the monotony than by agreeing to an act of lunacy.
George and I share a birthday. This September he's 16, while I'm nudging past the 'nearer 40' part of 40-something into the 'nearer 50'. I want to do something to celebrate before George fully enters the 'don't want to be seen with you' stage. We both hate heights. A lot!
Why on earth Skydive, then, you fools? Surely a nice sponsored walk would be less likely to make you regret signing up? Daily. Since you agreed.
Our answer, or at least mine, is the same as why I'm raising funds for The Kirkwood. If this year has taught us anything, it's that our quality of life, and our life experiences are really important.
I've always wanted to skydive. I've always been too scared. This year, I'm saying 'yes', because I don't want to look back and say 'why didn't I...'
And that's what The Kirkwood are there for too - helping people with life limiting illness to maintain their quality of life, make the most of whatever time they have and spend it doing the things they love, with the people who matter to them.
George's answer is probably because they skydive to get into the game in Call of Duty on his Xbox.
Can't have everything.
What I do know is that, if you're kind enough to sponsor us, every penny will help someone make the most of their life, despite being diagnosed with a life limiting illness.
