Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for Macmillan Cancer Support.
My beautiful and courageous wife Helen, and precious Mum to William & Jack, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in June 2019. Helen went through a seemingly never ending set of challenging treatments, procedures and side effects until she very sadly passed away in July 2022. Throughout that time, Helen was supported with care, advice, guidance and friendship from our wonderful Macmillan nurse, who was there with Helen and also supported me in the final months and weeks of Helen's life, allowing her to remain at home with us.
As a family, we all love the Lake District and have many happy memories of holidays and other special times spent there. On our last holiday together in September 2021 (when the above photo was taken), we stayed on the shore of Ullswater. On one of the days, we saw walkers on the Mighty Hike Challenge and we all thought that it would be fantastic to set ourselves the goal of completing this one day. The boys and I have therefore signed up to complete the 26 mile walk around Ullswater on Saturday 17 June 2023.
We will be undertaking the walk in Helen's memory and to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a wonderful charity which are always on hand to provide support to people living with cancer.
We have set ourselves a target of raising £2,000 and hope we can do even better!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
