Story
In October 2019 our team of ladies from Drumbo travelled to Uganda with Abaana. We worked with children in schools Abaana have built, we spent time with the boys living on the streets and we took part in a girls and women's programme by providing reusable menstrual kits to allow girls to stay in school. Those we met in Uganda have taken a special place in our hearts and we have been moved and motivated by Abaana's 6000 miles campaign to do what we can to support their 3 projects.
1. Covid-19 Appeal - Many families in Uganda are struggling due to the lockdown as they are unable to work or sell on what they have grown in their gardens. With no income, they have little to no food. Abaana is working to: Provide emergency food packages (just £50 would cover some of a family's necessities for one month) Urgently support street children.
2. Build a School - Abaana has committed to the building of Atukubui Primary School in eastern Uganda. It costs around £7,000 to build a classroom (eight needed in total).
3. Choir 3 - Choir 3 has been currently postponed to 2022. During training, Abaana cover the full costs of the new choirs education, accommodation and paperwork (£450 will pay for the education of a choir child while training).
