Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Yes, I'm back on the run, and this year taking up the bigger challenge of the Great North Run in Newcastle on September 18th, the biggest half marathon in the world. Last year I raised over £300 for the wonderful cause of the Alzheimer's Society, raised a lot of awareness and had enormous fun in my training for the Cardiff Half Marathon.
Well this year I want to do even better. Training has begun in earnest, and hopefully I'll raise more than £500. Help me make this happen. You'll be helping fund vital work by the Society, and radically improving my fitness too!
***UPDATE*** 15th August 2011 Just a few weeks to go now - because of Ramadan my training programme is on hiatus, but my little daughter is helping me by letting me chase her around the parks in the afternoons after work, so I haven't ground to a halt entirely! Thanks for all the mesages of supprt, I know some of you have pledged money, and I'm very hopeful of reaching my target. Will be back on full training at the start of September and looking forward to it!
***UPDATE*** 11th September 2011 . 7 days to go and counting, training back in full swing and thankfully fitness is slowly coming back! 2 gym sessions and a lot of miles covered in the last week. Thanks to everyone who's contributed so far, for everyone else there's still plenty of time to throw some coins in the hat. The support's been great, keep it coming.
***UPDATE*** 17th October 2011. Completed my mission for 2011! 2 half marathons in 4 weeks - GNR in 1hr 54m, Cardiff in 1hr 51m (official personal best!). Sadly did not get accepted in London Marathon, giving serious thought to going to thru to Edinburgh Marathon in May. That's a whole new level!
***UPDATE*** 25th November 2011. Have just sent off the donations from St Brides Medical Centre, where my generous patients have raised £54.02 for the Alzheimer's Society. Huge thanks once more to everyone who's shown their support, ever penny makes a difference and I'm proud to be associated with both the Alzheimer's Society and St Brides Medical Centre. Thank you all!
***UPDATE*** 15th December 2011. Have added the donations from my generous staff which totalled £90. I have a few more promised donations on the way so the target is coming up gradually. I'm thinking of taking up some different challenges in 2012 to keep things fresh and to motivate my fundraising, so will keep everyone posted. Thanks once more to everyone!
