Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running/walking/crawling through bog, moor and forest for 400km over 8 days this May to raise money to fund scholarships for Nepali students from poor rural backgrounds to study medicine and work in their home area as doctors.

This is the first time I have done an event for charity.  You all know how difficult life has been in the last year for Nepal since the massive earthquake a year ago.  Even without this most rural Nepalese have no access to a doctor, in part because rural people cant afford to train as doctors.

Doctors for Nepal are a small NGO set up by a British doctor who worked in remote Nepal and then funded her Nepali medical officer colleague through medical school - she saw an opportunity to improve rural health care by supporting bright motivated students who otherwise couldnt afford to study medicine.  In return for sponsorship students commit to returning to rural areas to help their communities after graduation as doctors.

Thanks for helping out!
