Story
To raise money for Cancer Research UK, I'm not asking for much. You don't have to go barefaced, or tip a bucket of icy water over your head. Simply have a drink for me, and donate the cost of that drink to charity.
Cancer Research UK's current fundraiser is the 'dryathalon', where you give up alcohol for January - but my way seems a bit more fun! I'm currently not able to enjoy a nice glass of wine due to various medications, but I shall live vicariously through you all. And if alcohol isn't your bag, why not have a smoothie or a nice cup of tea?
The past year has seen many fundraisers go viral, so if you want to post a photo or video of you participating in this 'challenge', and nominate a couple of people, feel free! I'll upload any photos I receive to the gallery on my blog.
You can also donate by text - simply text JALC99 plus the amount (e.g.£5) to 70070.

About me
My name is Jo Lambert Candlin. In June 2013 I was diagnosed with cancer of the appendix, part of a rare group of cancers called Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.
Over the past 18 months I have undergone surgery to remove the cancer, plus three types of chemo, but unfortunately the cancer is a persistent type and insists on hanging around. There are no standard treatments left for me to try.
In December 2014, I started as a participant in Early Phase Clinical Trials, carried out by Oxford University/NHS and funded by Cancer Research UK. The research the highly dedicated team at the Churchill Hospital are doing is crucial to find ways to cure cancer - not just hopefully for me but for the 1 in 3 people who will experience cancer in their lifetime.
You can keep up with me on my blog.
