Story
Dr. Arnold R. Highfield (1940 - 2019)
Dr. Arnold R. Highfield was an exceptional human being that came along once in a lifetime. Dr. Highfield was a professor, historian, writer, and poet, best known for his historical works on the Danish West Indies and the US Virgin Islands.
Dr. Highfield dedicated over 50 years of his life to helping students at the University of the Virgin Islands in St. Croix and at Middlebury College where he taught Caribbean history, anthropology, and linguistics. Dr. Highfield made his students a part of his life outside of the classroom by being a mentor, confidant, and in countless cases a surrogate father figure. The ripples of love and knowledge that Dr. Highfield started will forever pass through his family, friends, and students.
The Dr. Arnold R. Highfield Memorial Fund will help provide scholarships and mentoring to inner-city students throughout NYC. Please honor Dr. Highfield's legacy and contribute today.
