Story
Inspired by some personal losses in the recent years due to cancer, I wanted to challenge myself to raise awareness about those who help people with cancer. Many of the patients I look after every day have, have had, or have a loved one with cancer. Macmillan do so much for the care and treatment of people affected by cancer so I have chosen to use my challenge to raise money for their cause.
Whilst I’ve done lots of sport over the years including some running and cycling for fitness, I’d not run a race since middle school or ever cycled in a race. I’d actually never worn goggles to swim until I embarked on training for this challenge in September 2018. As part of my preparation, I competed in two sprint triathlons this year so my third ever triathlon will be an IronMan! How hard can it be?! I’m driving all the way to Vichy in France for this event and swimming the 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles then finishing off with a 26.2 mile marathon in temperatures often in the high 30s.
