Story
As many of you may know, last August Charles (@DouzeCoupes) had kindly organised a little car gathering at Goodwood on a sunny Sunday morning to raise money and celebrate the fact that I had completed my intensive hospital treatment for my Hodgkin's Lymphoma, including a bone marrow transplant made possible by The Anthony Nolan charity.
It was a really wonderful event, Charles and his many friends (the wacky racers coffee club) made their way down to Goodwood in typical wacky racer's style and made it a truly special morning that myself and many others will never forget.
People chatted and connected under the blue sky, and many new friendships were formed during that morning. Around 50 unique vehicles were on hand ranging from classics, to customs and supercars. It was the highlight of my year and I know Charles had been planning it for a while to give me something to look forward to after my transplant. We raised staggering amounts for charity as this was one of Charles' trademarks in the community. This time the chosen charity being Anthony Nolan, as they had supplied me with the stem cells to save my life.
The event was a big success, and afterwards Charles and I were already planning a follow up event for the next year, but bigger, with more people, more cars, and more money raised. We spoke on the phone about it and were planning what we would want the follow up event to be like.
In the recent passing of our dear friend, I have been more determined than ever to make this event that we were planning happen, and do it in a way we can both raise money as Charles would have, and honour the great man. We will continue to raise for Anthony Nolan, as they are a great charity, and we believe that this is what Charles would have wanted, in his usual kind hearted, and selfless way.
Please join us if you can make it, and lets celebrate our wonderful friend forever more. Long live DouzeCoupes. #douzecoupescruise
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
