Story
A big hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. After a few years' break I am hoping to run the London Marathon again, on 13th April. I am aiming to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
The Institute means a lot to me because of its involvement in the Everyman Campaign, seeking to raise awareness of and conduct research into male cancers, because I lost my father to prostate cancer a few years ago. However, the Institute is a centre for research into a very wide range of cancers, with particular success in the fields of breast and lung cancers. It is also one of the largest and most efficient charities; 95% of money raised goes directly into research.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Institute of Cancer Research & Everyman will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
The training for the marathon has, after a shaky start, gone well, at least as well as trudging round dark streets on cold, wet February evenings can go! Hopefully I will avoid the illnesses and injuries that scuppered my last couple of attempts at the London Marathon. So, fingers crossed, and now I am feeling confident enough to ask for sponsorship - please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.

Update - Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored me - although anyone else who would still like to donate is very welcome!!!
So, I did it. It was a great day, the eveent as ever was fantastic. The atmosphere and support is incredible. I managed to get round in 3hours and 7mins, which I was very pleased with, the whole run going to plan. I was exhausted after and my legs are very stiff, but I am also very happy. Of course it is also humbling to be part of an event like this, some of the reasons for people's involvement, and the adversities they face in participating were really moving. I will spare the details but this is trully an event like no other.
Again thanks for the support for a very worthy cause.
