Story
Our journey will begin with a short flight from Katmandhu to Lukla which is often described as the most dangerous airport in the world in the Himalayan valleys at a elevation of 2860 meters. We will then hike up to Everest Base Camp staying in teahouses on the way with temperatures getting as low as minus 20 during the night. The trek will take a total of 12 days, 9 days to get to base camp itself at a altitude of 5380 meters (17600 feet). It will be a gruelling trek with a high risk of altitude sickness and illness and oxygen levels 50% less than sea level.
We would be most grateful if you donate in any way no matter how large or small to raise money for this fantastic community charity. Thanks for reading.
#TeamHamish will create something positive and exciting for Nairn. Throughout Hamish’s battle with cancer, we were truly overwhelmed by the love and support we received from so many over the years, particularly from the Community of Nairn. We now want to thank the People of our Town. Our plan is to create special family spaces; places and areas for all ages and abilities to experience and enjoy. In doing this we will radiate the love that we hold for Hamish, ensuring that his memory lives on in this legacy for future generations.
