Story
It's been a year since I've done any useful fundraising and now that I've recovered from my last exertions it's time for me to get off my backside and go make a difference.
So on the 5th July 2009 I'll be taking part in the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride and have signed up for the 40 miles course.
My training strategy has two main themes:
1. Practice - get out and cycle! And with 4 * 20 miles completed I think its going well.
2. Carry less weight - my plan is to lose a stone before the event. It's a little difficult to judge how this is going given I'm building extra muscle but I estimate to have lost 8 lbs so far. If I can stick to the diet then I will get there by Friday 3rd July.
For those of you whose family has been affected by cancer in some way you already know the pain and suffering it brings. If I can do something, however small, to make it that little bit easier, then that's all the motivation I need
I dedicate the ride to my dad, Thomas Sherry, who was lost to cancer 18 months ago and I hope that one day a cure will be found. Thanks to everyone at Macmillan Cancer Support who dedicate their lives to helping others and to everyone else taking part in Sunday's ride.
Thank you very much.
