As you will probably know Mum died on 21 April. She was 90 years old, so she'd had a good innings, but we still expected her to go on forever. It's quite a shock when suddenly your Mum isn't there anymore. She had been in pain for some time, mostly with what must have been a hip problem, and she had had problems with her lungs for ages, never mind all the other things! But she was always in good humour, and I never heard her say a bad word about anyone, except perhaps when she was watching the boxing with Jenny: "Go on," she cried out, "hit him harder!"
Mum was a great fan of Princess Diana but after her tragic death the fields-full of dying flowers seemed to be such a terrible waste. So we thought that, rather than asking people to bring loads of flowers for Mum's funeral (which is at 2:30pm on Friday 7 May at Aldershot
Crematorium), we would ask them instead to contribute to a charity.
Mum spent quite a bit of time in Frimley Park Hospital over the years
and was always appreciative of the care she received, from doctors,
nurses, tea ladies and everyone else. So when we discovered they had their own charity, the Frimley Park Hospital charity, that seemed to be the ideal choice.
So have a look at the photos and the videos (there's only one video at the moment, from her 90th birthday party last year, but we're hoping to add more), dig deep and make a difference. If you were going to buy some flowers please donate that money here instead; and if you weren't, well, dig deep anyway :-) We'll be grateful for anything you would like to contribute and it will be a wonderful tribute to Mum.
And leave us a message, perhaps a little story about Mum - that'd be nice :-)
