Thank you for visiting this JustGiving page, set up in memory of Doris Briggs to raise funds for Action Aid.

Doris was kind, caring and generous throughout her life - not just to family and friends, but also the wider community. She was keen to help those struggling emotionally and financially and gave freely of her time, effort and money to provide practical support. Much of Doris' strong empathy probably came from personal challenges she faced while bringing up her children and husband through some very difficult times. Doris was also passionate about education and understood its value as a path towards development, opportunity and independence. 

With all this in mind, it seems fitting to raise funds in memory of Doris for Action Aid, a charity she supported for many years through child sponsorship, that helps tackle poverty and disadvantage through education and community support. Currently, much of their work is focussed on addressing gender inequality by working with women and girls in some of the poorest parts of the world.
