Story
As many of you know my big brother Rowan tragically passed away in October 2021. In his final days he was cared for by the amazing team of Doctors, Nurses and support staff at the Medway ICU. The care and skill shown was exemplary.
The environment was so alien to us all and being thrust into a ward surrounded by machines and tubes was overwhelming. The staff however were so empathetic and took time to get to know us and Rowan ensuring that he was looked after in a way that gave us all so much comfort.
Long days were spent in the ward and waiting areas attached to the ICU.It was here that we spent many hours with consultants and the national donor specialists to absorb bad news and make difficult decisions.
I would like to contribute to this worthwhile charity (which I am sure probably gets overlooked at times) to see if we can improve the areas where so many friends and families of patients in critical care have to spend So much time under the most challenging of circumstances.
Climbing Snowdon will be a challenge! I will be setting out in the early hours of the morning to reach the peak for sunrise and will be spending a few moments to think about Rowan when I get there.
I’m looking forward to creating this memory with Georgy, Archie and Lisa - we can do this!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your donation - it is really appreciated xx
