Story

The Government has dropped the ball on Refugee Rights and it's time for us to pick it up for them.

The Bristol Women's Football Casual League, Banana F.C. and Bristol City of Sanctuary have teamed up to raise awareness and fundraise for refugee charities in Bristol. They need our support now more than ever.

As Universal Credit rates have gone up, asylum support has stayed the same, meaning asylum seekers continue to live on just over £5.00 per day. Bristol's refugee charities are often a lifeline, providing essential services to those in need, but they are also under threat from cuts in funding and COVID19.

As asylum seekers in Bristol are forced to live on only a fiver, the price of a pint, we think the government has dropped the ball on this and it's time for them to take responsibility; to raise awareness of this - we are asking you to show off your ball skills for a fiver.

Donate a fiver and then shows us your ball skills. This can involve any ball (football/ basketball/ golf etc) and any activity as long as it involves the number 5, so get creative!!! Suggestions:

  • Dribbling for 5 mins/ 5 kilometres/ 5 miles.
  • 5 keepy uppies/ 50 keepy uppies/ doing them for 5 mins!
  • Cycling with a ball for 5 kilometres or miles (how!? Who knows!)
  • 5 passes without dropping the ball - 50 passes - 500 passes!?

Now is your chance to show us what you've got

Every fiver raised will get a you a virtual high five from the Bristol Women's Causal League footy teams whilst also helping some of society's most vulnerable.

Please stay safe whilst fundraising and follow the physical distancing guidelines.
