Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Hi,
I'm Donna and this is my 3rd Women for Women fund raising challenge.......
There are many reasons that I support this charity, for me its all about babies and their health, my mum had miscarriages, still births, and premature births, whilst close friends have had heartbreaking experiences some with great outcomes and some not.... So this is why I'm trying to raise a little money.
And just in case you wondered where your donation goes,I pay all of my own travel costs, so that all the money donated goes straight to the charity,
I'll be keeping a fund raising and training diary on here starting off with my Disco, this is the second one that I've held and I hope it'll raise even more than the stunning £1289.00 of last year.
Fundraising:
Started off with a generous donation from the Dunsmore Rotary Club of £100.00
March 20th 2009 - 60's,70's & 80's disco:
Put on your dancing shoes and some glitter - £10.00 per person to include buffet. The disco went really, really well, with loads of support from everyone who came. A total of £1500.00 was raised, half of that went to another charity.
But it boosts my fundraising totaliser to 850.00.
I've booked the third and fourth disco's now which will both hopefully be as successful as the first two.
October 09 - My goodness how time flies, but I've just held the 3rd disco with Deena and its boosted our totals by £400.00 each, well worth slogging round the streets delivering leaflets in the end. Only a year to go to raise all the money.
April 24th 10 - 60's,70's & 80's disco
June 5th 10 - Spring ball - Eeks this is going to be a nerve wracker, 3 of us with 8.33333 recurring tables to sell each! Its all arranged, all we have to do is sell the spaces!
Training:
After cycling Cuba, I came home with the firm view that a saddle change was necessary... after trawling through the internet came up with an unusual looking saddle called the spongy wonder seat. At the moment I'm making minor adjustments on small mileage rides to find the best postion. All I can say is there is definately no discomfort, big up to wonder seat!
Training is limited to evenings and weekend small rides, I am however building up to the Randonee during the May bank holiday weekend which will be 100k's around the Isle of Wight.
I've been seen around Rugby on my bike all summer, getting some miles in, and had a great training weekend up in Derbyshire at Von's who kindly took us to a local spa to recover!
Sept 09 - As a group we've been cycled in the cotswolds again, that ride wouldn't have been complete with out the obligitory punctures and nasty hills!
Thanks for taking the time to look and hopefully donate
Donna xx
