Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit Luke's JustGiving page.
Luke aged 6 hopes to support the campaign by completing a 5 mile bike ride starting in Bangor this Saturday 10th October and can't wait! He absolutely loves getting out on his bike and is looking forward to completing his bike challenge.
The pandemic has resulted in Special Olympics Ireland missing out on vital fundraising but hopefully this campaign will help support these athletes get back together again. Luke wants to help with fundraising so the athletes can return to their clubs, meet their friends again, learn new skills and show the world what they can do!
Luke has been a member of Titanic Tigers Special Olympics club in Belfast since September 2019. The Young Athletes Programme is a play and sporting activity for children from 4-7 with an intellectual disability.
The club exposes children to a wide variety of play activities in a familiar, supportive and fun environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. The benefits of these go beyond sports, setting these children up with skills that allow them to thrive in life. It also allows parents to socialise together and benefit from the support network the club offers. It really is a special place . .
Luke was diagnosed with learning difficulties and a speech and language delay. We used to worry about Luke's communication skills, his lack of motor skills and worried about how he would interact with others. Since he's joined Titanic Tigers he has become more confident, learnt fundamental movement skills and actually become competitive and keen to improve on those skills. He can't wait to get back to Titanic Tigers so hopefully by supporting this appeal you can help make this happen.
If we can help out a little bit with fundraising that would be fantastic. Also please spread the word about the Special Olympics clubs to give as many young kids as possible the chance to enjoy sport, make friends and achieve their goals.
Lots of love from Luke 💙
Special Olympics athletes have come so far, they have become physically, mentally and emotionally fit through the Special Olympics sports programme and more recently through the Together at Home programme which has enabled many athletes to stay active and healthy during the pandemic as well as creating a virtual sense of community where they athletes feel supported. Special Olympics Athletes continue to amaze us through their resilience, their achievements, their confidence and the challenges they over come every day. They cant stop now!Our Athletes Cant Stop, Special Olympics Ireland needs your help to keep their programme up and running please donate to my appeal because the only thing that could stop Special Olympics Athletes is a lack of funding.
