Story
Yes I am doing it again, another mad Ultra Challenge. I am.combing my love of the outdoors and my love of walking with raising money for Charity.
British Heart Foundation is an amazing charity with amazing people. When my husband Lee was diagnosed with severe heart failure in October 2020 after suffering COVID in June, we had very little support from the NHS due to COVID. Lee had no cardiologist for 3 months, no cardiac nurse, and our GP wouldn't see him, as in his eyes Lee was under the care of a cardiologist.
In the early days, Lee was not on the right medication, but with no follow up, we didnt know, he was just getting worse not better, to the point he was in extreme pain and struggling to breathe. We contacted the nurses at BHF, and they were amazing, giving support, advice and guidance, they managed to convince Lee to return to hospital. Thank Goodness .... he had mutiple clots on his lungs and was immediately hospitalised. He is finally making a recovery, which wouldn't have happened without those fantastic nurses.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
