We help our local patients & their families to support everyone fighting brain tumours

Story

Hello, I'm Donna Mallon. I was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 3rd August 2019. On the 14th of August I had Brain Surgery and had some of my tumour removed.

The bit of tumour that was removed was sent to Pathology.  After five weeks I was given the dreaded diagnosis of a stage 4 Glioblastoma. Before Christmas I had 6 weeks of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. Thankfully I had a break over Christmas but on 6th January I started a Chemotherapy regime. It will last to the end of June, depending on my bloods and my health each month.  Please goodness, this treatment works and keeps the tumour at bay to give me more time with my 3 beautiful children and my wonderful husband. As well as my loving family, my dearest friends and the large circle of wonderful people I have around me offering me love, support and positivity. They make it all easier and keep me strong to fight this awful disease.

Glioblastoma tumours are very aggressive and are highly malignant. They spread into nearby normal tissues of the brain. 95% of Glioblastoma patients die within a 5 year diagnosis.

There are 16,000 people diagnosed with a brain tumour every year yet Brain tumour Research receives less than 1% ( 0.7% ) of national cancer research spending in the UK.

I chose Brainwaves NI as the charity to raise money for as they put alot of money into research alone each year for Brain tumours. They are a volunteer lead charity that provide support to patients and their families during diagnosis, treatment and end of life care.

Over the next few months I intend to have a few fundraisers.  On Saturday 25th of January, I am starting the fundraising with my 2 little daughters, Cadhlà Kate age 8 and Casidhe Mae age 7. Along with two of their friends, they are cutting their hairs and donating it to the Little Princess Trust for kids who need wigs ❤.  I am a super proud mummy.

Thank you for visiting my justgiving page.

If you could spare a little for this cause, together we can do alot ❤.

Much Love
