Story
Having an extended family who love my kids as much as I do, I can sleep well knowing that, no matter what happens, they will always have someone to look out for them. But being a foster sister to a number of kids throughout my teens meant I saw close up some of the many reasons why not everyone is not so lucky and how a few different turns can lead to a teenager barely out of school being out on the streets. Step by Step is an amazing charity that prevents homelessness for hundreds of young people each year. So my (always delightful and bound not to whinge all night) 15 year old Esme, 11 year old Elijah and I are giving up the comfort of our beds and SLEEPING OUT to raise vital funds for Step by Step and the young people they support. We will have our sleeping bags, pillows, a stack of cardboard to sleep on and plenty of snacks and hot drinks! So, whilst this won't be a comfortable night, we will have full bellies and the company of not only each other but also the Step by Step team and the friends taking part with us - it really is nothing compared to the long and lonely nights facing a young homeless person.
