Earlier this month, we noticed we were close to reaching 200,000 Facebook likes and felt we would like to celebrate. We turned the tables and asked fans how we should mark the occasion and for people to vote for their favourite response. Emma Macaulay's reply back was the top post liked.
"A donation drive to see if every one of the 200,000 would be willing to donate £1. Imagine? Wow!"
We all know how much you love donkeys and what better way to mark this special occasion but to give everyone a chance to name a donkey in return for a donation.
Most of the donkeys coming into the Sanctuary already have names, but on occasion we do have female donkeys who are already in foal coming into our care. Although we have a no breeding policy, any foal that is born here is given sanctuary for life.
One of our recent arrivals is 5 year old Suzie who is expecting her foal in August/September. She now lives with a calm and relaxing group of older donkeys at one of our farms in Devon... just what an expectant mother needs.
Suzie's grooms are keeping a check on her and after having a check-up by one our vets, her little foal is about the size of a rabbit at the moment, so still a little way to go before she reaches full term. We'll regularly update the fundraising page with updates and photos for you to keep up to date with Suzie's progress over the coming weeks.
If you would like a chance to name Suzie's foal later in the year, all we ask is that you kindly make a donation - be in it to have a chance of winning!
- In the message box, please let us know two names - one for a girl, one for a boy - and why you chose them.
- Don't forget to tick the box to stay informed when making an online donation so that we can contact you if you are the lucky winner.
We will be drawing the winner's name after the birth of Suzie's foal in September 2015.
