Story
DONATE YOUR DINNER is about reducing food poverty across the UK - it means contributing the cost of a sandwich, a dinner or a coffee to help people who are going hungry because they can't afford nutritious food.
The DONATE YOUR DINNER appeal is inspired by a group of dieters who realise how lucky they are to be able to eat less through choice.
We've been following The 5:2 Diet, which involves two 'fasting' days a week. It's making us healthier, and saving us money - money which can help the Trussell Trust open three new foodbanks a week - one in every town across the UK - to reduce food poverty.
DONATE YOUR DINNER begins on August 6 2014 and donations can be made at any time until December 31st - perhaps when you reach a weight loss milestone, or have added up savings and feel able to contribute some of that money to help families who are struggling.
Any size donation is welcome - the cost of a coffee, the sandwich lunch you skipped on fast day, or even a month's savings from your grocery bill.
All money raised through DONATE YOUR DINNER
will help grow the network so that this essential service is available
to those who need it across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland.
