Don Harvey is running the London Marathon

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Crohn's and Colitis UK are the UK's leading charity for Crohn's and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of.
In January last year I (Olivia) was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after suffering symptoms for nearly 5 years. After lots of tests, cameras, biopsies and some incredible care from Imperial College Healthcare, I was finally diagnosed and am now on treatment and in remission (despite the odd flare up!) which is a huge relief.
My incredible Dad is running the London Marathon to raise money to support the charity that has supported me and so many others. I'm so lucky to have a Dad that goes above and beyond to support me - not many Dad's would run a marathon for their daughter, especially at the age of 78!!
Whilst I was lucky to be diagnosed and treated, this was a long process that involved occasions of misdiagnosis, endless doctor's appointments, tests, frustrating waits and more. Crohn's and Colitis UK was the first resource I used to gain advice and reassurance; they do an incredible job of campaigning for better support for people with conditions including colitis, and it means the world that my Dad is running a whopping 26 miles to support them.
Running a marathon has been a lifelong ambition of my Dad's, so it would mean so much to have your support - whether you're able to donate or simply share this fundraiser, it would meant the world to us both and it will go a long way in not only raising awareness, but helping Crohn's and Colitis UK continue to campaign to get better support for those who live with these conditions.
