Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nurse charity.
Their nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia – including Alzheimer’s disease.
Admiral Nurses are here when people need help. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems. As dementia specialists, Admiral Nurses help families manage complex needs – considering the person living with dementia and the people around them – and they can advise other healthcare professionals.
I aim to walk one thousand miles through Spain and Portugal during spring 2023 and hope to raise as much as we can to fund more Admiral Nurses in the community. This distance is a challenge but I have walked two Caminos of over five hundred miles each in 2017 and 2019 respectively. To reach 1,000 miles I will have to walk two caminos consecutively.
I have set a target of £3,000 but let's see if we can smash that. Incidentally, the money you donate goes directly to the charity. I pay all my own expenses: flights to and from Spain, food and lodging during the 12 or so weeks of walking.
A dear friend of mine has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and it is said that we are all likely to know of someone with dementia of some sort who will need support. Please give what you can.
