I am running the Jane Tomlinson Pennine Lancashire 10k in memory of 2 dear friends my family and I sadly lost prematurely to cancer last year. Robert Taylor,58 and Kerry Finn, 22.

I wasn't privileged to have known Kerry that long, she had only been in our lives for just over 6 months after meeting my brother whilst working in Ibiza. She was a beautiful, talented woman who had everything to live for.

Robert was a great friend to anyone, was a handyman who would share his tradeskills  to help others in need and is greatly missed.

I never understood what running for charity was all about to be honest. And I feel sad on my part that something had to happen so close to home before I realised it.

But hearing of the pain that Kerry and Robert went through in the fight for their lives I realise that aching legs, stiff joints  and blisters are a mere inconvenience in life.

The Jane Tomlinson appeal supports hospices and charities who provide vital care and a support network to cancer patients.
