Campaign by Level Water (RCN 1151510)
The Dart 10k was the first, and is arguably the finest, 10k swim on the open water calendar and 2019 is its tenth year. Its a journey, not a race, and theres room for everyone in the river.

Story

Level Water provides specialist one-to-one swimming lessons for children with physical and sensory disabilities.Once each child has learnt to swim 15m frontcrawl and backstroke, they can be safe and independent in the water, and can join group swimming lessons or join their local competitive club. But it's not just about swimming... Through developing independence in the water, and being able to join mainstream classes, each child develops confidence, self-esteem and resilience. If we can help to give children physical, social and emotional confidence through sport, we can change their trajectory in life.

For those of you who were contacted by me when I last did this amazing event, raising money to help Level~Water with the incredible work they do. Giving children who would otherwise be excluded, the opportunity to  experience the same wonderful feeling of freedom that we (able bodied folk) take for granted in everything we do..... I thank you all. You helped raise a whopping 3.5K, and I know it made an incredible life changing difference to loads of wonderful young children.

This year I am going again, and again I am holding my hand out on behalf of Level Water, asking for some of your very hard earned cash. I've kept it until the last minute this time, partly because I didn't want to hassle you all for money more than once, but also because it's been a bit of an all consuming year.

While I'm raising money for Level Water, I'll be swimming in memory of my dad, who very sadly passed away earlier this year after what turned into an epic battle with the side effects of his treatment from skin cancer.

His illness and my total lack of swimming due to it, meant I almost pulled out for fear of not being able to complete such a marathon. However I have tried  to get some kind of 'swim fitness' over the last few weeks to make sure I can can at least complete the distance. Time wise will be nothing like the ridiculous mark I set last time... But I will finish, no matter what...

Please, please, please... If you do have any spare change and can afford to pass it this way, it will make more difference to Level Water and the extraordinary work they do than you can imagine..

Thank you

Dom
