Story
On 8 May 2017, after a perfect pregnancy, my wife Georgia gave birth to our first child, a daughter called Beatrice Emilia. A few hours later, at 1.22am on 9 May Beatrice passed away. To pay tribute to our beautiful daughter and to treasure her memory we are raising money for Tommy's, the baby charity.
As part of that fund raising I will be running the London Landmarks half-marathon, but to make things challenging I will be attempting to run it in 1h22m - in honour of Beatrice and the time at which she passed away. For those with access to a running machine - this is equivalent to setting the speed at over 15km/h and running for 21km. Hopefully this will be painful enough to convince you to dig deep and generously sponsor me and support Tommy's. But if not, reading about their work below definitely should do!
Tommy's funds and undertakes groundbreaking research into miscarriage, still-birth and neonatal death. Their work in the last 25 years has already helped lower the number of miscarriages in the UK but more needs to be done. Around 25% of pregnancies in the UK end in premature death. Tommy's work can help to ensure that fewer families have to suffer the ultimate pain and loss that we did.
Thank you for donating. Your generosity will hopefully mean other parents don't have to go through what we went through and other children will be able to live long and healthy lives. In this way, Bea's memory can be treasured by millions of families for years to come.
