Story
Most of us take for granted being able to go about our day-to-day lives without attracting unwanted attention for looking different.
For Facial Palsy Awareness Week (1st-7th March) we hope to raise awareness about the physical, social and psychological impact of facial paralysis.
Facial palsy goes beyond looking different, but by sporting half beards or half make-up, we aim to start a dialogue about an often misunderstood condition that affects over 100,000 people in the UK. We founded the charity to ensure that the public and health professionals have better information, to raise funds for research, and to provide much needed support for the children, and adults affected.I am now growing a beard to shave half of it off for a week at the beginning of March. My face will look odder than it does normally which will get quizzical stares and comments from everyone I meet. I have personal experience of this and thankfully it improved with time. Imagine having that everywhere you go, everyday....
