Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
We are part of the Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice Community Team working in West Berkshire. We decided to go above and beyond our day jobs to raise funds for the charity who we are proud to work for.
We are taking part in the Reading Dragon Boat Festival on Sunday 19th August to raise funds and awareness for the Sue Ryder community services that we provide across West Berkshire.
The whole team would be extremely grateful for any donations to this page to help support the charity. Duchess of Kent Hospice is required to raise £1.5 million this year to continue all of it's vital services.
The Sue Ryder community teams are based at The Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading, Wokingham Day Hospice and the Charles Clore Day Hospice in Newbury and provide a variety of specialist services from expert teams enabling patients to remain in the comfort of their own homes whilst receiving care for a palliative or long term condition.
As a community team we work together to manage many physical symptoms like pain, nausea and fatigue and to share expert advice, support loved ones, and if need be, provide a referral to our day or inpatient services. We work closely with GPs and other health and social care teams to ensure care and support is co-ordinated and patient centred.
Our healthcare specialists work in the community, treating people at home with the same level of incredible care as they would receive at one of our hospices. We also have outpatient clinics where patients can attend their local hospice for a booked appointment.
