More about Bath Cats and Dogs Home...................
Since the Home opened in 1937 tens of thousands of unwanted animals have been saved from cruelty, homelessness and destruction.
Bath Cats and Dogs Home is one of the largest animal re-homing centres in the UK caring for over 350 animals (dogs, cats and small animals) at any one time at a cost of over £3,000 a day. They pride themselves on their strict non-destruction policy and aim to find every single animal a loving home, no matter how long this may take.
The centre receives no government, lottery or RSPCA funding and therefore the £1.2 million annual running costs are funded exclusively by voluntary donations and gifts in wills.
For the Wag Walk during RSPCA week, the animal charity is hoping to raise crucial funds towards its £3,000 daily running costs needed to care for the 3,000 unwanted dogs, cats and small animals, which are re-homed each year. The course is 6 miles, participants can walk needy dogs from the home or take their own pets along. Lil, Lucien, James and Hazel will be taking part by being walked by their four-legged companions Seb, Poppy and Mansall along the Bath Skyline route on Sunday 25th April 2010.
