Story
We are Stepping up for Stillbirth to raise money for Tommy’s!
Over 2 million babies die before birth annually around the world, including around 2,750 UK families each year. This is heart-breaking for every single family, and will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Tommy’s funds our lifesaving research at the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre (MFHRC), University of Manchester, to understand and prevent the causes of stillbirth. With Tommy’s help we have reduced Manchester’s stillbirth rate by 19% since 2015 and our Rainbow clinic (providing care for families in pregnancy after babyloss) is being rolled out nationwide. But the fight is not over yet.
With our colleagues at MFHRC, we are stepping up to raise money for stillbirth, during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 (9th-15th October 2021). Together we pledge to take 2 million steps, one for each of the stillborn babies and their families, and raise money for Tommy’s lifesaving work.
We will be taking part in a 3 part challenge to raise vital funding for Tommy's:
- 7 Peaks in the Peaks challenge - one for each colour of the rainbow
- Collectively walk 70,000 steps every day of Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th-15th October 2021)
- Some of our team members will also be walking from Wythenshawe Rainbow Clinic to St Mary's Rainbow Clinic
Please consider donating whatever you can; every penny will be used to support Tommy’s fantastic work.
