From 15th-23rd August 2009 I will be trekking in Iceland to raise funds for the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity ( Reg Charity 1052861)
As a practicing GP I am very aware of the emotional and physical effects that a cancer diagnosis has on both the patient and their family. The Helen Rollason Charity is there to help with the “living with” part of the illness through its local centres as well as supporting cancer research.
I also have a personal interest in cancer as I was diagnosed with a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma ( a type of lymph gland cancer similar to Leukaemia) in 1996 and had to go through a course of chemotherapy.
I was very grateful for the treatment and care I received and for the wonderful support from my wife, family, friends, colleagues and patients. I understand from my personal experience what valuable work charities like the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer do, and I am proud to be able to support such a worthy cause.
I hope you can give generously to support an Essex based Charity.
