Story

Hello!!!! Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On June 11th/12th a group of adventurous Dorset Wildlife Trust workers/volunteers are attempting the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing up and down the three highest mountains in the UK in as fast a time as possible.  The walking adventure will begin on Friday 11th at 5pm at the foot of Ben Nevis in Scotland, and having conquered Englands Scafell Pyke inbetween, will finish at the foot of Snowdon in Wales on Saturday the 12th.

The adventure involves approximately 14 hours of walking and 10 hours of driving.  We will be travelling by minibus between each peak, with the willing Chris at the wheel (a brave man, as there's likely to be a large amount of sleep deprived moaning towards the end!).  We hope to complete the challenge in as fast a time as possible, with little or no sleep, and with the aim of finishing the 25 mile of steep ascent and descent within 24 hours!

2010 is the year of Biodiversity, and by undertaking this gruelling challenge we aim to raise awareness of the work of Dorset Wildlife Trust and the need to conserve our rich variety of wildlife.  Wildlife and the great outdoors is proven to enhance lives and DWT strives to make Dorset's environment richer in wildlife for everyone.  We are hoping to raise as much sponsorship money as possible to support its vital work and conserve its rich range of habitats.

The ‘Do Summit for Wildlife’ team wants to help:

Water voles, for example on the River Allen in east ’s Millstream river enhancement project Restoring ponds in north Marine wildlife – underwater camera for education/study and awareness raising
