Story
The impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on local communities up and down the country has been devastating. Almost overnight Mustard Tree saw a dramatic drop in their fundraising streams - as offices closed, events were cancelled, donating priorities changed and community shop purchases diminished.
Throughout the past year, like many charities, Mustard Tree has had to change the way they operate so they can continue supporting those in need, and so found themselves refocusing their resources into their food club.
Similar to a food bank, their food club provides subsidised food boxes for low income families and free food boxes for the homeless. Pre-covid they would spend roughly £4,000 a month on food for their food club. They're now spending £8,000 a week, and even though lockdown is slowly easing, the number of people relying on their food club will remain at unprecedented levels for a long time to come, and it will be a while until their traditional fundraising streams come fully back online.
Because of this Old Spike Roastery & Feel Good Club have joined forces for the month of April to raise money for Mustard Tree, so they can continue the amazing work they do supporting the people of Greater Manchester.
