Dementia and Me
I am taking part in the “Trek26 Lake District 2021 - 26 Miles” because the Alzheimer’s Society needs funds to research and bring about more awareness and support in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Your donation will help this deserving cause because this disease is destroying many lives. Every donation that is received will go towards defeating this terrible affliction, even a penny could make a difference.
This cause is very close to my heart. Dementia is known in our house as ‘El Bicho’. (From the Spanish– a Nasty Piece of Work) This disease is a one-way journey only.
Dementia is the umbrella term used to describe a wide range of symptoms that become apparent when brain cells become damaged. There are over 200 sub-types of dementia, the most common ones are Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, Frontotemporal Dementia as well as Mixed Dementia.
Dementia is not a natural part of ageing. It is a disease that causes damage and degeneration in the brain. It is like a parasite, slowly eating the life out of the patients whilst they are still alive. It can affect anybody of any age.
Thank you for your support, your donation will instantly go to the Experts at the Alzheimer’s Society Research Team and will immediately be put to work in the search for a cure.
