Story
Our dear friend Ellen Percival passed away unexpectedly in May 2022. Ellen was a true lover of plants and mycology, the most knowledgeable and the most enthusiastic. They were completing their masters in Biological Recording and the last time I saw them they were keen to tell me of a place near Bath were Atropa belladonna had been found, they had sent me the pin and we were planning to walk there together.
From Bristol City Centre, via the Bath Train Station, through some woodlands and to the pin Ellen sent me is 30k - we'll walk with friends in a day in Ellen's honour, to raise funds in their memory for The Avon Wildlife Trust who work hard to conserve and protect nature, of which Ellen loved so much.
Avon Wildlife Trust are on a mission to restore at least 30% of land and sea for nature by 2030. In the face of a climate and ecological emergency they are instrumental in the practical conservation of the West of England's natural habitats, as well as providing resources for communities to campaign and take action into their own hands.
Their work includes mapping a Nature Recovery Network for the West of England, 'an interconnected network across the four counties of Avon and beyond, where wild plants and animals don't simply survive in diminishing numbers but can thrive, moving from place to place, living, feeding and flourishing into the future.'
Everyone is welcome, to do as much or as little as you'd like, please feel free to share with those who loved Ellen. Looking forward to seeing you and thank you to anyone who is in the position to donate.
Itinerary update: I have made a pdf of all the information regarding the walk, I think i'm in touch with everyone whos coming but my email address is kioskalice@gmail.com
