Story
My dad was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) in December 2000 at only 38 years of age.
He was fortunate enough to receive exceptional care from the staff at Belfast City Hospital and under Professor McMullin, was put on trial of a new chemotherapy drug at the time, which he continues to take to this day. Thanks to this drug, he is still around today and lives an almost normal life - apart from a few side effects!
I took up running in January 2019 with help from the 'Couch to 5k' and continued on throughout the year, eventually participating Belfast City Marathon as part of a relay team. I joked at the time that I would complete the full 26.2 miles myself next year, but as my fitness improved and I kept the running up, it's become a reality!
I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for Leukaemia and Lympoma NI.
