Story
On June 4th, I am joining my sons’ school Triathlon team at Blenheim Palace - 750m open water swim + 20km bike ride + 5k run for Unitas - a charity that supports young people in Barnet, where a third of the youth lives in poverty.
Most of you know I’m an absolute novice - beginner in swimming, biking and running. Having started my journey with the NHS Couch to 5k app just a few months ago, this is QUITE a steep challenge for me, but it is for a great cause and I am aiming to finish, however long it takes me.
Unitas has set up a youth centre which is accessed by over 6500 young people between the ages of 5-19. The purpose of the youth center is simple - to provide young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Unitas has a strong focus on sports, to help the young people spend their time in a safe space and to inspire them to live healthier, happier and more aspirational lives.
Our fundraising is specifically to help expand their sporting facilities including their fitness centre and boxing gyms.
I was very inspired by UNITAS’s work, and would love to do my bit to help their young people get better sports opportunities. Please support me in this cause - any donations, however small, will go a long way..
