Story
It's my once-a-year charity thing to raise some money for Air Ambulance. Like last year I'm taking part in a Vodafone-organised event - in this case a 100 mile bike ride from Newbury to Olympic Park in London.
Now, if you know me you'll think "that's not a challenge, that's an average Saturday ride". Correct, I've done much harder things that you might consider more worthy of sponsorship - events in the Alps, Pyrenees, a 300km-in-one-go ride in Wales a couple of months ago. Yet I didn't ask for sponsorship then - those were things I wanted to do and I feel wrong asking for sponsorship for personal challenges. So why sponsor me now?
- Firstly, all donations up to a total of £350 will be doubled by Vodafone! That's right, doubled! It's a double your donation bonanza.
- It's for Air Ambulance, something that we all could need but astonishingly is paid for entirely by donations - no government or NHS money.
- I have to ride into London, which won't be pleasant. It's very different to stunning mountain scenery. It smells. There's traffic. Other people. Noise. Give me marmots and solitude any day.
- I'll try and go fast. Really fast.
So, don't sponsor me for riding 100 miles. Sponsor me to double your donation to Air Ambulance and for me having to ride into London.
I think that's a good reason, don't you?
