On Sunday 22 April, I'll be joining over 30,000 others to tackle one of the most physically demanding races possible, the world famous London Marathon - the only difference being that I'll be doing it in my wheelchair. 

Up until now, the only way a wheelchair athlete could take part in the London Marathon was to qualify for one of the elite wheelchair spaces. To do that, you're racing against the likes of world number 1 David Weir, and you need specialised racing wheelchairs to do this. Not everyone can do this; the cost alone is prohibitive.

By taking part in my standard, 5 year old Quick GPV wheelchair I hope to open the way for any disabled person who wants to take on this gruelling challenge to do so in the future.

I've been lucky, and I've found sport in my life - its given me strength and purpose. I've chosen to use my opportunity to take on the London Marathon to raise money for Leonard Cheshire Disability. They support thousands of disabled people in the UK to fulfil their dreams and live full lives.
