Story
Dion Lee Grey (12 Nov 1998 -
06 Jan 2022)
Dion was first diagnosed with Neuroblastoma just
before his 2nd birthday in 2000.
In 2002, with dedicated teams at Great Ormond Street and the Whittington Hospitals, Dion went into remission.
In April 2018, after 16 years of remission, we received the devastating news that Dion had once again been diagnosed with cancer.
Over the past 3 years and 9 months, various teams
at Macmillan Centre (Teenager and Young Adult Services), University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery and UCLH Hospital have been instrumental during Dion’s treatments, doing all they possibly could in the hopes of a curative outcome.
As each stage passed, Dion would receive distressing news about his treatment but continue doing the things that he loved, like working at the Arsenal. He showed great strength, devotion and determination.
The last 5 weeks have been the most difficult; Dion’s body started showing signs of deterioration and his pain became increasingly more difficult to manage, yet Dion continued to take everything in his stride, smiling throughout, and never complaining
On Thursday 6th January, Dion sadly lost his fight after a short time in T12 ward at UCL hospital.
As a family, we would like to take this opportunity to give back to the following charities:
The Neuroblastoma Society (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising-edit/diongreynb)
and
The Teenage Cancer Trust (this Just Giving page)
Donations received will be divided equally between these three Charities. Please donate, instead of flowers.
Much love
Debbie, Leroy, Abigail and family
