Story
Starting at midday on Saturday 27 February 2010, Alex Shaw and Tony Atkins of the Digital Cowboys undertook a marathon gaming session in an effort to raise money for the earthquake relief effort in Haiti.
The mission? Starting from zero, and using a single XBox Live account as a team, the Cowboys tried to attain the highest GamerScore they could in a straight 24 hour run, eventually ending with an incredible 7,510 GSP (over 5 points per minute!)
All donations received go to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an independent international medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid in more than 60 countries to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters or exclusion from healthcare.
In emergencies and their aftermath, MSF rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, battles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centres for malnourished children and offers mental health care. When needed, MSF also constructs wells, dispenses clean drinking water, and provides shelter materials like blankets and plastic sheeting.
Please donate as much as you can afford. Either as a pledge for every Achievement/GamerScore Point, or as a one-off donation.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
