Last year was fantastic, despite the wind, the cold and the rain! And as you can see, I crossed the finish line still in one piece. With your help, I raised very nearly £5,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and this year I aim to raise even more. Please, will you help me again?
My son Daniel has Cystic Fibrosis, an incurable and life-threatening genetic condition which affects all the vital organs in the body, but especially the lungs and the pancreas, by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus.
Every week three children and young people die from CF, usually as a result of the on-going lung damage. For me, as Dan's mother, that's a terrifying statistic.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust began in 1964 to help improve the lives of CF sufferers. Treatment of the disease has come a long way and now they are very close to finding a cure. The only thing they need is more money.
With you supporting me, I know I can do it again and get us that one step closer to finding a cure for this wretched condition. I'm hoping to raise more money AND run the race faster by cutting my time by nearly an hour. Just finishing last year was my goal but this year I hope to complete it in under five hours. This will be an enormous challenge for me. Will you help me?
