Friends, relatives, colleagues.
On 25th March 2022, I will be heading to Morocco to run the MARATHON DES SABLES, known as ‘The Toughest Footrace on Earth’. It is a 156-mile race through the Sahara desert over six days, where we will be battling temperatures of up to 50C and carrying all our own equipment. Anyone who knows what I’m like in the heat will realise what a challenge that will be in itself…!!
To add to the excitement my parents (Bruce and Nicky) will also be doing the race, and assuming we beat the backmarker camels, Bruce will become the oldest Scotsman ever to complete the MdS!!
WHY?! I hear many of you ask. Aside from being slightly mad, it is all to raise money for the most fantastic charity, Ambitious about Autism, whose aim is to ‘make the ordinary possible for more children and young people with autism.’ Over the past two years, Covid-19 induced lockdown measures and the resulting changes in routine have hit young people with autism particularly hard, which makes it all the more important to raise as much money as possible to provide all the support that they need. Having grown up alongside my two wonderful autistic cousins, and seen first-hand the challenges that they and the family have faced, I am incredibly excited to be supporting such a worthy cause. Thanks to your amazing support, we have already raised almost £14k and are now looking to reach £20,000!
Please take the time to click onto the Ambitious About Autism website below, and donate if you can. The entire MdS trip is self-funded, so every penny raised will go straight to the charity. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
