I first became aware of this terrible condition a few weeks ago when I met an amazing lady called Ruth McBain at one of my business networking meetings. She is the Regional Fundraising Manager (Southern) for DEBRA and was asked by one of the ladies at our group whose son actually lives with the condition, to talk to us about the condition and how it affects the sufferers and their families. DEBRA helps families affected by EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa), a genetic condition which causes the skin to blister and shear at the slightest friction. DEBRA provides a team of nurses and social care staff to work with families affected by EB and commissions world-leading research into the condition. When Ruth had finished there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Being a mum of two gorgeous boys, I realised how lucky I am and felt that I wanted to do something to help this charity.
