Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page where I am raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society by climbing Ben Nevis on 8 September.  Admittedly I didn’t research Ben Nevis before I paid my £80 registration fee but I have a few months to train and raising money for this deserving charity will give me the encouragement I need.

As many of you know my Dad suffered with this cruel disease; to watch someone you love go from a loving, confident, outgoing person who played an active role in local government to someone who can’t look after themselves or hold a conversation is devastating. I will continue to raise money for the society in the hope that one day a cure will be found.

Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain and can affect anyone.  There are currently over 750,00 people with dementia in the UK and this figure will rise to over 1 million by 2025.

I have pledged to raise a minimum of £500 part of which funds the accommodation for this trip but I will be baking and selling cakes, having a boot sale and holding raffles in order to cover the accommodation so hopefully anything you give will go straight to the Alzheimer’s Society (I will post blogs to let you know how these sales are going).

Thank you very much for your donation, I (and the people this will help) really appreciate it!!

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
